About

The American Professional Soccer League was the Premier Soccer League in the United States of America prior to the formation of Major League Soccer in 1996.

It was formed from the merger of two separate leagues – the Western Soccer League and the American Soccer League (Eastern) in 1990. In 1996 it became the A-League, and the Official United States Soccer Federation-sanctioned Division 2 League.

The National Premier Soccer League is the United States Soccer Federation Officially-recognised Division 5 League. The NPSL makes up the Fifth Division in the US Soccer Pyramid, and is the equivalent of the National League in English Football. It is officially an Amateur Division, comprising U23 players, so they can maintain College Eligibility.

Report

Australia comfortably won the OFC Nations Cup 2-0 over New Zealand in the Final, after beating Cook Islands 17-0 and Solomon Islands 6-0 in the Group Stage, and then Vanuatu 1-0 in the Semi-Finals in their closest match.

New Zealand also topped their group before winning 2-0 against the Solomon Islands in the Semi-Finals, who went on to claim third place after defeating Vanuatu 2-1 in the Third Place Playoff.

The OFC Nations Cup is the Continental Championship for Men’s National Teams in the Oceania Continental Confederation (Australia & the Pacific Islands).

Report

Iran went undefeated in the tournament, beating Syria 1-0 in the Final, after beating hosts Jordan 1-0 also in the Semi-Final, and topping their group winning two of their three matches, only dropping one goal and one point over the entire tournament to Palestine.

Syria had finished runners-up in Group A to Iran and beat Iraq on Penalties in the Semi-Finals. Iraq had topped Group B, with two wins and a draw from their three matches, with hosts Jordan qualifying for the semi-finals as runners-up.

The King Hussain Tournament is a regional West Asian Zone Soccer Tournament for Men’s National Teams, held in Amman, Jordan.

The United Soccer League is the United States Soccer Federation Officially-recognised Minor League affiliate of Major League Soccer. United Soccer League 2 makes up the Fourth Division in the US Soccer Pyramid, and is the equivalent of the EFL 2 in English Football. It is officially an Amateur Division.

Carlow Town won the Leinster Junior League Premier Counties Division in 1975-76, with Edenderry Town, from Co. Offaly winning the next two Titles in 1976-77 & 1977-78.

About

The Leinster Junior League was the Junior Level Soccer League for South Dublin and neighbouring Counties such as Kildare, Offaly & Carlow, before it was absorbed by the Leinster Senior League.

There were two parallel sections: the main (Metro) section for South Dublin and a Counties Section for the Regional Leinster Counties. The Premier Division was the Top Division in the Leinster Junior League.

Republic of Ireland Soccer Pyramid

Republic of Ireland Men’s Club Soccer is divided into three levels – Senior, Intermediate and Junior.

  1. Senior Level The Football Association of Ireland League of Ireland constitutes the Senior Level with 2 Divisions – Premier Division and Division 1.
  2. Intermediate Level: Provincial Leagues – Leinster, Munster, Ulster, Connacht – which contain the Intermediate ranked teams.
  3. Junior Level: Below the Intermediate Provincial Leagues are the Junior County Leagues.
  4. Local Level: Football Fives constitute an unofficial fourth level in pyramid, with each League based in a Local Football Fives Complex.

Fatima Rangers won the Premier Division Title in 1976-77 & 1977-78, the latter after a victory against St. Teresa’s in a Test Match after the two sides finished level on points. St. Teresa’s made no mistake the following two seasons, winning the title on both occasions.
