Defending Champions Shamrock Rovers had an abysmal season by their standards, finishing fourth from bottom on 17 points from 18 games, just one place above newcomers Brooklyn. The story of the season, however, was Bohemian FC’s first League of Ireland title after finishing second and third in the first two seasons.

Bohemian FC won 16 of their 18 games, scoring 56 goals in the process and finished four points ahead of nearest rivals Shelbourne FC, fellow Northside Dubliners. Jacobs took third place, four points further back with Athlone Town taking fourth.

Following the season Shelbourne United and bottom-placed Midland Athletic dropped out for the 1924-25 campaign to be replaced by Fordsons, from Cork, and Bray Unknowns from North County Wicklow, giving the League of Ireland a more National appearance for the first time.
