Following the season, 6th placed Frankfort FC, based in Raheny, North Dublin, and YMCA dropped out of the League of Ireland, and were replaced by Shamrock Rovers, Shelbourne United, Pioneers, and Rathmines (all Dublin teams) and Athlone Town and Midland Athletic.
