About
The American Professional Soccer League was the Premier Soccer League in the United States of America prior to the formation of Major League Soccer in 1996.
It was formed from the merger of two separate leagues – the Western Soccer League and the American Soccer League (Eastern) in 1990. In 1996 it became the A-League, and the Official United States Soccer Federation-sanctioned Division 2 League.
